Them bones, them bones, them sweet bones

Scare up some fun with these tasty meringue bones.

This is super simple recipe that will be sure to please! Working with meringue is not so scary after all!

Meringue Bones

Ingredients

3 egg whites

1/4 tsp cream of tartar

1/2-1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 c sugar

pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees F

  2. Place egg whites in mixer, add cream of tartar, and a pinch of salt.

  3. Hand mix with whisk to combine and then beat on medium-high speed until soft peaks form.

  4. Gradually add in sugar and beat till stiff peaks form

  5. Place a silicone mat or parchment paper on baking sheet.

  6. Fill a pastry bag or zip lock bag with meringue. (With or without a pastry tip)

  7. Pipe bone shapes on tray. (I started with heart shapes on each end and then connected)

  8. Bake for 1.5 hours or until bones are easily moved on parchment.

  9. Cool slightly

  10. Serve with your favorite jam!

  11. Store in an airtight container.

I used or vintage Eve table, Marylin Compote Bowl, and checkered cake stand to create this spooky treat table. Enjoy!
